Description: M2 is a broad measure of U.S. money supply, including currency in circulation, checking and savings deposits, small time deposits, and retail money market fund balances. In May 2020, a reclassification of savings deposits into M1 introduced a structural break, limiting direct comparability of M2 levels before and after that date.
